Making Insurance Claims

  • Will I have to pay excess if I make a claim?
  • I was doing some DIY and spilt paint all over my sofa and carpet. Am I covered?
  • I was putting up some new shelves and drilled through a pipe that I didn't know was there. Will I have to pay for the damage?
  • How do I make a claim?
  • How much would it cost to rebuild my home?

Q: Will I have to pay excess if I make a claim?

A: Yes, unless you have taken out a policy with ‘no excess’. These types of policies are, however, usually more expensive. You can often choose the excess you wish to pay in the event of having to make a claim. The higher your excess, the lower your premium will be.

Q: I was doing some DIY and spilt paint all over my sofa and carpet. Am I covered?

A: If you have accidental damage cover, then all accidents will be covered. If you are a keen DIY person then we highly recommend you take out accidental cover on your policy.

Q: I was putting up some new shelves and drilled through a pipe that I didn't know was there. Will I have to pay for the damage?

A: If you have taken out accidental damage cover then it will be fine. You will just pay the excess on the policy.

Q: How do I make a claim?

A: To make a claim under your insurance policy, please contact your insurer directly. Their number will be in your policy documents.

Q: How much would it cost to rebuild my home?

A: If you want to work out the cost of rebuilding you home then we recommend you go to the Association of British Insurers' Website for more details.
