The Environment Agency is helping homeowners find out how flooding could affect their home insurance options.
The government body will have a presence at the Baby and Toddler Show at the MK Dons Stadium this Sunday (March 7th) where it will check people's postcode to see if they are at risk of flooding.
Advice will also be given on how to best prepare in the event of a flood, including what essentials to have ready in case of any disruption.
Rob Bakewell, flood incident management team leader at the Environment Agency, said: It only takes a few minutes to check if you are at risk from flooding and to start thinking about what you need to do if the worst were to happen.
People with children or responsible for them should find out if they live in a flood risk area and have plans in place to cope if there is a flood. I hope people will come and talk to us at the show.
The agency recently warned that 403,000 properties in the south-east of England were at risk of flooding as a result of climate change, meaning many homeowners will want to reconsider their home insurance options.
