Home insurance customers are set to embark on more DIY projects once summer passes, according to an expert.
GfK Retail and Technology UK recently reported that the value of the DIY and gardening market increased by 2.1 per cent in June and by four per cent in the second quarter.
Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council, explained how DIY activity may increase over the coming months.
Once we get the summer over and once we get the government more settled in then people will be taking a more positive attitude towards their properties and thinking about new kitchens and new bathrooms, he said.
People may be also taking a look at what needs to be done following last year's bad winter because this is now the appropriate time to do that and then start putting things right before the next winter comes along.
After any DIY, it is important to make sure improvements or additions to a property are covered by a home insurance policy.
