Hartlepool sees home insurance benefits

Home insurance customers will be interested to know that Hartlepool has seen the biggest reduction in burglaries across the country since 2002.

Figures compiled by Yorkshire Bank Home Insurance show that reported burglaries have fallen by almost two-thirds in the town over the past year, double the national average.

Other areas to have benefited from reductions in burglaries include Eastbourne, Stockton-on-Tees and Barnsley.

Steve Fletcher, head of retail banking at Yorkshire Bank, said: It is great for anywhere to cut the number of burglaries, but to cut them by so much is a fantastic collaborative achievement by the community and police, particularly in Hartlepool which has experienced the biggest reduction in burglaries across England and Wales,
