Home insurance customers have been told that installing a free-standing bath could add a 'luxurious look' to their property.
According to Buster, six out of ten adults now regularly shower instead of taking baths, with one in six people not being able to remember the last time they had a bath.
Despite this, Ronnie Whelan, editor of The Essential Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Magazine, explained how people still valued having a bath, even within limited space.
She added: With the high end of bathroom design, the free standing baths are definitely a desirable item and give your bathroom a more luxurious look - an oversized bath always makes a show-stopping focal point.
Walk-in showers have universal appeal and there is a new generation of wet rooms which offer a refreshing alternative to fussy shower trays and rather ineffective curtains.
She also pointed out that, if installing a shower, then it is vital that home insurance customers include a good pump to ensure powerful streams.
