Two new offers have been unveiled by Direct Line as part of a January strategy to attract new home insurance and car insurance customers.
A free home emergency package is being offered to those who choose to take out a new home insurance policy, while 12 months for the price of nine can be secured on buildings, contents and combined insurance deals before the end of the month.
The home emergency add-on will enable customers to receive additional help in the event of a plumbing, drainage, electrical-wiring, security or pest-related disaster.
Specifically, the policy will cover call-outs, parts and labour costs should one of the above situations occur.
Meanwhile, drivers looking for new car insurance can get 52 days of free cover from Direct Line in addition to a potential no claims discount .
Recent research from gocompare.com found that 41 per cent of British consumers have yet to jump on the car and home insurance switching bandwagon despite the fact it could save them money.
