Thu, 04 Feb 2010

A leading home insurance firm has offered advice to women to safeguard their Valentines gifts as almost a fifth of them have had items stolen in the past.

As Valentine's Day approaches fast, Sheilas' Wheels home insurance has given some tips to both givers and receivers to protect their gifts .

The website specifically warns consumers that any piece of jewellery will need to be a specified item on a Sheilas' Wheels home insurance policy if it's worth above £1,500.

Jacky Brown of Sheilas' Wheels home insurance advised Britons not to forget the importance of insuring a new piece of jewellery on Valentine's Day.

She said: "All women should remember to make sure that their home contents insurance policy accurately reflects the amount of jewellery they own and that they have adequate personal possession cover in case disaster strikes."

Meanwhile, insurance company RIAS recently reported that Britons are at potential risk of leaving their jewellery and other possessions underinsured to the value of £4.9 billion because of the rising cost of gold .
