University students have been warned that home insurance should be top of their list of priorities.
A spokesperson for the Association of British insurers (ABI) explained that this is because a lot of student areas have higher burglary rates.
Students take laptops, music systems, iPods, clothing - they have a lot of items they take with them, the spokesperson observed.
For peace of mind and a bit of security, contents insurance can play a very important part.
This follows a report by moneysupermarket.com which revealed that car insurance concerns may cause university students to think twice about taking their vehicle with them.
The price comparison said there is a significant difference in price between leaving a vehicle in a suburban property and parking it at city centre student accommodation .
Individuals could pay up to £3,000 more for their policy over the duration of a university course, the site warned.
