More than 12 million people will switch their home insurance provider or change gas and electricity supplier over the coming year, a new survey has claimed.
According to research conducted by Home 3 Assistance, a quarter of UK consumers intend to change energy supplier or switch home insurance provider .
The survey revealed that while saving money remained the most common reason why people might switch providers, quality service was fast becoming just as important as cost.
Indeed, one in five of the survey's participants said that quality service was now more important to them than cost when choosing a home insurance policy or gas and electricity provider .
Our research reveals a clear shift in consumer behaviour as customers seek out better service as well as value for money when choosing a service provider, observed Steve Narey, product and marketing director at Home 3.
Meanwhile, the Association of British Insurers recently warned home insurance customers that properties are especially vulnerable to break-ins during the summer .
