New research by Axa has revealed that the week between Halloween and Bonfire Night sees the highest number of home insurance malicious damage claims for the whole year.
Fireworks and trick-or-treaters mean that November 5th sees 350 per cent more antisocial behaviour leading to home insurance claims for damage than an average day of the year, according to the report.
The home insurance firm is encouraging parents and the police to make sure that residents can live without the threat of a firework through the letterbox or an egg smashing a window.
Nick Kidd, head of home insurance at Axa, advised property owners to make sure doors and windows are secure, adding: We don't want to ruin anybody's fun on Halloween or Bonfire Night but people do need to be vigilant.
Halifax Home Insurance recently warned Brits that burglars will be welcoming the longer nights as the clocks go back at 02:00 BST this weekend (October 25th).
