The AA has said that the government's flood and water management bill will not help households to be completely protected from having to make a home insurance claim .
Announced by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on Friday (November 19th), the bill will give local authorities more power to invest in damage prevention if their regions are at risk of flooding .
However, the AA has seen a rise in home insurance claims related to flooding from areas with no history of experiencing bad weather, giving rise to speculation that flash floods may occur anywhere in the UK.
Simon Douglas, director of the firm, said: Knowing that your insurer will step in and sort out the expense and practical problems of making homes habitable again can be a major relief [in the case of a flood].
