Home insurance company Churchill has released new research into claims on Friday 13th and has found that people are indeed more unlucky on that day.
The company analysed home insurance claims made when Friday and the 13th fell on the same day last month and compared the data with that of previous weeks.
It was found that accidental damage claims for bathroom items rose by 20 per cent on the day in question and people were more likely to receive seven years' bad luck by smashing a mirror.
Martin Scott, head of Churchill Home Insurance, said that on the unlucky day, having accidental damage cover on your home insurance can go some way to minimising the stress and financial burden of having an accident in the home.
Churchill currently offers accidental damage cover as an optional extra to its standard home insurance deal .
Home insurance firm NFU Mutual recently urged those who are more likely to have to claim for bizarre accidents to take the right insurance measures.
