Home insurance a good idea for festivals, says esure

Thu, 18 Jun 2009

Those looking to join the 175,000 revellers heading to the Glastonbury festival next weekend (June 26th) may want to protect their belongings under a home insurance policy, says esure.

Although they will be out in the pastoral setting of Worthy Farm, Somerset, the festival-goers can still get any valuable personal items, such as iPods, covered with home insurance, according to the website.

However, it warned that those without a lockable tent door may not be covered in the event of loss or damage and students living away from home could have to find their own insurance as they are not protected under their parents' policy.

Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure Home Insurance, said: "Those festival-goers looking to … take items such as mobile phones, digital cameras or mp3 players with them, it's crucial to make sure they're adequately insured."

Some attendees to Glastonbury may want to keep their equipment in a vehicle over the weekend, but uSwitch.com recently advised that car insurance is required to protect these items.
