Aviva has enhanced its home insurance policy by covering business equipment as standard.
The insurance firm updated its cover provisions after company polls revealed more than one million Brits are now working from home .
Julie Fromant, home lifestyle manager at Aviva, said: "Mums and dads choosing to work flexi hours, the growing number of freelancers and higher levels of redundancy all mean that home working has become a real alternative to the corporate office."
She added that the move is designed to make homeworkers feel more secure about operating from a domestic base and encourage them to renew their Aviva policies.
viva's home insurance will cover office equipment such as computers, printers and photocopiers up to the value of £5,000, with furniture included in the remit of business-related items.
Policy holders will also be insured for damage incurred as the result of fire and flooding .
Earlier this month, Aviva announced it is partnering with NAB/MLC to create a new life insurance provider, hence expanding its reach in the financial market .
