People looking to beat the credit crunch should look closely at their home insurance policy, according to one expert.
Writing for the Daily Mirror, Beth Neil explained that people can save large amounts of money by shopping around for their home insurance .
She suggested people use price comparison websites such as moneysupermarket.com or gocompare.co.uk.
These allow people to compare several home insurance policies at once and as such find the best deal, Ms Neil explained.
However, some home insurance firms such as Direct Line opt out of these services, so people should make sure they check these separately, she added.
According to Ms Neil, home insurance customers should not just opt to take their renewal quote as this can be hundreds of pounds more expensive than the best deal.
Recently, Halifax Home Insurance revealed that is now offering people the chance to chat online to an adviser when looking for a quote .
