Home insurance customers on the same street are being charged wildly different costs for cover in the case of flooding, according to one group.
The National Flood Forum (NFF) said that the problem of discrepancies between what different companies charge to homes at risk of flooding in the same area is epidemic and widespread.
Speaking to the BBC, the organisation explained that those who have claimed on their home insurance policy in the past are being penalised by companies.
Mary Dhonau, chief executive of the NFF, told the news provider: Everywhere we go to speak to communities at risk of flooding, the subject always gets round to insurance and people tell us their stories, neighbours... having different excesses is really quite a big issue.
The AA recently criticised the government's flood and water management bill by saying it will not help households to be completely protected from having to make a home insurance claim .
