Home insurance provider esure has offered advice for those thinking of doing a spot of DIY over the Easter break in order to avoid hefty bills.
The company has urged home insurance customers to protect valuable items under adequate accidental damage cover as the average household contains £5,000 worth of electronics and technological equipment.
Accidents such as drilling through a water pipe, problems with plumbing, drainage or power, spilling paint on carpet and dodgy workmanship are all covered with the right home insurance.
Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure home insurance, said: For anyone thinking about attempting DIY jobs around the home this Easter weekend, having ample buildings and contents insurance, plus accidental damage cover to foot the bill of any DIY mishaps, is definitely worthwhile.
Halifax Home Insurance has recently warned people of the increased risk of garden theft as the weather improves over the spring months and of the need for ensuring adequate cover.
