Sainsbury's is offering customers a 25 per cent discount on its home insurance policies .
To be eligible for the promotion people need to take both buildings and contents insurance through the company before October 6th 2008.
Anyone who applies for their home insurance online will receive a further ten per cent discount.
Neil Laird, home insurance manager at the firm, explained that while price is an important factor when considering home insurance, people should also look at other things.
He said: "Home insurance policies vary dramatically so it's essential people compare policies not only on price but also on the level of cover they provide."
Quality home insurance cover does not have to be expensive, he added.
Recently, price comparison website Confused.com warned that people should check their home insurance covers DIY-related mishaps before undertaking any work.
According to the firm, some home insurance policies state that certain work should only be carried out by a qualified professional.
