Home insurance warning over accidental damage

Thu, 04 Sep 2008

Home insurance which covers accidental damage could be vital for young people who enjoy throwing parties, it has been claimed.

The Guardian reports comments by Peter Gerrard, spokesperson for price comparison website Moneysupermarket.com, who explains that while young professionals who are not in their homes very much will not benefit from the insurance, other groups will.

"Accidental damage [home insurance cover] is invaluable if you are in a busy household, especially if you have children or are a student household and throw lots of wild parties."

People can also add accidental damage cover on to buildings insurance as well as their contents insurance, the news provider states.

This means that people will be covered by their home insurance for things such as putting their foot through the ceiling while in the attic.

Yesterday, Sainsbury's announced that it is to offer a 25 per cent discount for anyone taking out both their buildings and contents insurance with the firm.
