People should make sure their home insurance covers all their gifts this Christmas, one expert has warned.
Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure home insurance, explained that as the value of items people have in their property is likely to increase in the run up to the festive period, they should double check their policy.
He said: It is important to make sure you have ample contents cover, especially around this time of year when thefts tend to be more targeted and the value of burglaries are higher than any other season.
Anyone buying items worth more than £1,500 will have to have them specified on their home insurance policy, he added.
Mr Pickard also advised home insurance customers to hide their gifts, making it hard for burglars to find them if they do break in.
Yesterday, Neil Laird Sainsbury's Home Insurance manager, advised cyclists to make sure that their bike is covered by their policy.
