People living in flood-hit areas are being blacklisted by home insurance firms, it has been claimed.
Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail, Paul Walmsley, explained that his most recent home insurance firm has refused to renew his cover after he was hit by the deluge which effected the city in 2007.
He stated that the Bedford Insurance Group will not offer him cover, despite the fact he is willing to go without flood cover .
I find it very disappointing that I don't claim on my house insurance for ten years, yet I am now blacklisted when getting flooded was not my fault, Mr Walmsley said.
His former home insurance company were not available to comment on the matter.
Last week, Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for the British Insurance Brokers Association, called on the government to spend more on flood defences .
If this is not done, then it could become uneconomical for home insurance firms to continue offering cover for affected areas, he warned.
