Tesco offers home insurance discount

Supermarket chain and financial services provider Tesco has announced that it is to offer a 33 per cent discount on home insurance cover .

Customers will be able to take advantage of the offer until June 21st 2008, while Tesco Home Insurance is also offering an additional ten per cent saving online .

Head of home insurance at the company Allan Burns said: "This represents a substantial discount on home insurance."

"Even if your policy doesn't expire in the next couple of months, it's worth getting a quote to see what's on offer."

Last month, Kelly Ostler-Coyle, spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers (ABI), urged people to shop around for the best insurance deals, but advised consumers to ensure that they base their decision on the level of cover they receive, rather than the price.

People ought to consider whether a premium offers them legal cover and if their belongings are all covered.
