The storms that hit the country in March have led to thousands of home insurance claims, one expert has claimed.
And according Neil Laird, home insurance manager for Sainsbury's Finance, many more properties which were not covered by home insurance could have been damaged.
He said: Bad weather is increasingly the culprit when it comes to damage to homes and really highlights the importance of having adequate cover in place.
If you have been unlucky enough to have your home or car damaged by the storms, our advice is to contact your insurer now.
Research by the firm found that ten per cent of adults do not have home contents insurance and five per cent of homeowners do not have buildings insurance .
Yesterday, Saga warned that the upcoming warmer weather could lead to an increase in home insurance claims as people leave windows open, giving thieves an opportunity to break in.
