Anyone who is set to make a claim on their home insurance following the recent storms might want to find out just how much their repairs should cost.
In order to help them do this, the Building Cost Information Service has published a list of the prices people should expect to pay for damage caused by storms.
Andrew Thompson, international development director for the body, said: Whether your property has suffered light, medium or severe damage getting an accurate estimate of the repair cost can help put your mind at ease, as well as help you to negotiate with your insurer or contractor about the work.
The service reveals that home insurance claims for damage can range from £350 to replace six tiles in one location, to £12,590 to rebuild a sidewall of a terraced house .
However, the amounts are only a UK wide average and those in Greater London may have to make insurance claims of around 14 per cent more than these figures, Mr Thompson added.
Last week, Abbey claimed that the recent bad weather had prompted a 55 per cent increase in its customers making a claim on their home insurance .
