Overseas home insurance policy launched

Fri, 27 Jun 2008

A new home insurance policy for UK citizens with properties overseas has been launched.

The home insurance product is being offered by Confused.com in conjunction with Hiscox and allows customers to cover their holiday homes .

According to Carlton Hood, chief executive officer at the website, the home insurance product means that people will not have to deal with unfamiliar legal systems .

He said: "Our overseas insurance service will allow our home insurance customers to insure their holiday homes abroad, without the worry of language barriers or alien property laws which can make maintaining a property in the sun extremely stressful."

The product will allow people to obtain home insurance for their holiday property through a UK broker, he added.

Yesterday, Sylvia Newham, head of communications for NFU Mutual, advised people to check their home insurance policy to see if it covers the contents of their freezer should the device breakdown.
