Anyone taking valuable items with them to music festivals this year should find they are covered against theft by their home insurance policy, one expert as claimed.
However, Simon Lamble, product director of Confused.com, warned that if people do not secure expensive items such as phones or mp3 players properly, they could risk invalidating this home insurance cover .
Mr Lamble also points out that any claim on home insurance will increase the cost of the premium in future.
He said: It is vital that the prospect of jiving along to Jay-Z, cavorting with the Kaiser Chiefs or moshing with Metallica at this year's festivals, does not overshadow the importance of searching for suitable insurance to cover your belongings.
People should also shop around to make sure that they have the best home insurance deal available regardless of their summer plans, he added.
Yesterday, David Rochester, head of underwriting for Halifax Home Insurance, warned people playing tennis near their house to make sure that they are covered for any accidental damage they might cause.
