Almost two-thirds of Britons did not switch their home insurance at the last renewal date, a new study shows.
Research conducted by Tescocompare.com reveals that 64 per cent stayed with the same home insurance provider despite that fact that 44 per cent of them had seen their policy rise by more than inflation .
Furthermore, just 22 per cent of those affected by such increases even considered moving to a new home insurance provider .
Paul Baxter, director of commercial and partnerships at Tescocompare.com, said: "Our research clearly shows that the majority of people don't switch their home insurance provider at renewal, which means people do end up paying higher premiums than necessary."
He suggested people shop around to find the best possible deal available.
Yesterday, Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers' Association, advised people with a holiday property to make sure they have adequate home insurance to cover anything that might happen to it.
