Rainfall is home insurance reminder, expert states

This week's dramatic rainfall should serve as a reminder for people to make sure they have adequate home insurance in place, it has been claimed.

According to Rachael Stiles, spokesperson for Fairinvestment.co.uk, the poor weather is a sign of what damage flooding can do and for this reason people should make sure they have home insurance in place.

She said: "As household bills increase, it could be easy to sacrifice home insurance, but home and contents insurance is not something to be sacrificed."

A house is many people's most important asset and not having adequate home insurance in place could lead to a disaster, she added.

Yesterday, Sheilas' Wheels home insurance warned that the cost of losing a handbag could be much more than it is worth.

According to the firm many women carry around items such as bank statements which could put them at risk of identity theft .
