Tesco offers half price home insurance

Anyone looking for a home insurance policy might want to take a look at a new deal being offered by supermarket giant Tesco .

Tesco Personal Finance is promising that any new home insurance customers who obtain a quote and then take out a policy will receive a 50 per cent discount on their first year's cover .

According to the firm the offer applies to both buildings and contents home insurance with the company.

The head of Tesco Home Insurance Alan Burns said: "This is a great saving and it's worth getting a quote even if your policy doesn't expire for a couple of months."

However, those searching for home insurance will have to act quickly as the offer expires on March 5th.

On Thursday Halifax revealed that high winds caused a total of £4.5 billion worth of damage to people's houses last year, leading to large numbers of claims on peoples' home insurance.
