Cornish Mutual has extended its home insurance cover to make sure people are protected over the festive period.
According to the home insurance firm, an extra £2,000 worth of goods will be covered until January 6th, something it believes will provide protection for any gifts that could be in a property .
Chris Ridgers, development director at the company, said: It's a good idea to check your home contents insurance covers any new expensive purchases like electrical items or jewellery .
Home insurance customers should also make sure their property is secured and protected against the risk of floods and other incidents, he added.
As well as this, people should ensure they do not leave any obvious signs that they have been buying expensive items as this could attract burglars.
Yesterday, Darren Black, head of home insurance at Confused.com, advised people to make sure that any rare or valuable items they own are listed separately on their policy.
