The increasing popularity of so-called manbags over the course of the past year could result in a spate of fashionable thieving, it has been claimed.
According to the Post Office, those that wear manbags must be careful they do not leave the accessory unprotected against opportunistic thieves.
The firm claims that celebrities such as Kanye West and David Beckham have helped spread the trend which has quickly crossed over on to the high street as Topman reported a 50 per cent surge in sales compared to the same time last year.
It's important that men consider this a serious risk and take steps to protect their possessions by taking out personal possessions cover as part of their contents insurance, said Post Office home insurance spokeswoman Emma Baunach.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Topman said there has been a number of influences including the catwalk and celebrities that have made the manbag a sought after item this season.
Founded in 1986, the Post Office provides more than 170 products from its 12,500 branches nationwide .
