A tenth of Brits admit to being most accident prone over the Christmas period, research by one home insurance firm has found.
The study, conducted by Halifax Home Insurance, also indicates that the most common accidents people face are food and drink stains on the carpet, followed by breakages.
However, the research also found that 41 per cent of people do not know if their home insurance protects them against accidental damage.
Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager at the firm, said: With a significant proportion of us finding that most accidents happen around Christmas, party preparation should include checking you have the appropriate home insurance for accidental damage.
The last thing people want to do at Christmas is to fork out more money than they have to, the home insurance expert added.
Last week, MS Money warned people to make sure that their home insurance policy covers the cost of items they have in their properties .
