Cutting corners on home insurance is never advisable, especially in today's compensation culture, warns one expert.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Sarah Cornish notes that in an increasingly litigious society it is vital that adequate home insurance is in place, especially if hosting parties with other people's offspring.
Her advice comes in the wake of a recent court case which saw a 13-year-old boy being awarded £1 million of compensation following an incident at a bouncy castle party.
Ms Cornish notes that while many insurers incorporate cover for bouncy castles, swimming pools and trampolines in their regular packages it is worth double checking exactly what cover is supplied.
She also suggests that despite coping with rising costs in other areas people should not scrimp on their home insurance policies .
Asia Manzoor, a spokeswoman for esure home insurance, tells the news provider: "Without this cover, a valid claim could be pursued against the assets of any individual and result in the loss of earnings, property or other possessions."
Meanwhile, Sainsbury's Bank recently reported that children's parties cause £16.8 million worth of damage to their parents' homes annually.
