Anyone considering giving their house a spring clean might find it is a good time to check that their home insurance is up to scratch, one expert has suggested.
Elaine Parkes, head of technical services for Legal and General explained that home insurance customers are required to take reasonable steps to safeguard their property as part of the terms of their policy.
She said: This includes ensuring that their property is maintained in a good condition.
Ms Parkes added that anyone who was planning more than a spring clean, such as major improvements, should check with their home insurance company to see if there are any restrictions on their cover .
Yesterday, Rita Sadler of Safegaurd Insurance warned that anyone who plans on taking expensive items with them on a caravan holiday should ensure that they are covered by their home insurance policy .
This is because caravan insurance varies greatly in terms of what is covered, she explained.
