Ensuring that home insurance covers legal costs could save people money if they become engaged in a dispute with their neighbours, one industry body has stated.
Kelly Ostler-Coyle, spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers, explained that while people might never need to use it, having such cover in a home insurance policy could come in handy.
She said: "If you think [that] if you were to get into a legal argument you would not be able to afford those expenses, then it is something you should be thinking about when you take out your home insurance policy ."
Ms Ostler-Coyle added that it something people will have to make a choice about when deciding what they want their home insurance policy to cover .
A recent study by Allianz Insurance found that a third of people have had some sort of disagreement with their neighbours, with 16 per cent blaming the argument on noisy people or loud music .
