Anyone who is shopping around for home insurance should make sure that the policy covers what they need.
Kelly Ostler-Coyle, spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers, explained that it is not always best for people to go for the cheapest home insurance policy available.
She said: When you are taking out taking out your home insurance you don't just want to go for the cheapest.
You want to say: 'Does it include legal cover? Does it have all risk extension fees so you're covered for your items when you're outside the home and how much am I covered for?'
The final decision on which home insurance policy to take should be based on the level cover and not necessarily the price, she concluded.
Recently, Andrew Perryman of bestdealinsurance.co.uk warned people not to rush into buying home insurance as if they did so they might find that they are not covered when they make a claim .
