Home insurance advice for caravaners

Mon, 07 Apr 2008

Anyone who plans on taking expensive items on a caravanning holiday should make sure they are covered by their home insurance policy, one expert has claimed.

Rita Sadler, of Safegaurd Insurance, explained that because caravan insurance varies so greatly, people should not take the risk of taking valuable items with them that are not covered by their home insurance policy .

She said: "What you should do automatically is to insure them on your home insurance on an all-risk policy, or cover that's effective while it's away."

However, Ms Sadler added that it is also important to have an appropriate insurance policy in place to cover your caravan, in case it is damaged in anyway.

According to figures from the Caravan Club, is now the most popular paid for holiday in the UK with 19 per cent of people taking one.

Last week, David Rochester of Halifax Home Insurance warned that people should make sure they have a policy which covers any expensive garden items they might own.
