A new home insurance policy has been launched by MS Money, which aims to cover repairs to a property when the owner is away on holiday .
Launched today, the policy allows a nominated person - such as a friend, relative or neighbour - to make a claim on the home insurance policy owner's behalf.
The company describe the home insurance policy as useful to those who are not covered for emergencies under their current home insurance policy or are away from home and relaxing on holiday.
Deputy chief executive of MS Money Eddie Nott comments that homeowners want peace of mind from their home insurance policy.
MS Holiday HomeSafe provides this reassurance for customers and for friends and neighbours who have the responsibility of looking after their home while they are away, he remarked.
Customers will be able to relax while they are away safe in the knowledge that any emergencies will be taken care of, he adds.
HSBC announced yesterday that it would offer a new home insurance policy that will allow customers to freeze the premiums on the account for the next five years.
