UK residents have been advised that larger home insurance companies may offer greater dependability and security in the advent of an ever-rising flood threat.
According to Richard Mason, the director of insurance at moneysupermarket.com, major home insurance providers are less likely to remove their cover if a flooding catastrophe should occur.
It is essential to shop around for cover that will suit your needs so you can get the insurance deal that suits you, he remarked.
Mr Mason also called upon the government to take swift action after it pledged to spend £800 million by the end of the decade on additional provision for flood defences .
This is £50 million more that it had previously guaranteed, he noted, something that is likely to have been caused by the major floods that caused extensive damage and led to many home insurance claims in Britain this summer.
AA recently revealed that these floods are a primary factor in a rise in home insurance costs over the last quarter, with buildings cover up by three per cent and content protection rising by two per cent.
