The upcoming night of festivities on November 5th is likely to cause a large number of home insurance claims .
According to home insurance company AA, some £780 million worth of damage is likely to be caused on bonfire night as blazes and fireworks get out of hand.
In addition, the firm warns that the increased popularity of garden furniture and other items to spruce up one's outdoor space could see the problem exacerbated, as Britons possess more items.
Data supplied by AA finds that one in five Britons are unsure whether their home insurance policies cover their gardens, potentially leading to a financial nightmare should revelling go awry.
Janet Pell, head of AA Home Insurance, says: The garden is an increasingly central part of our living space, all year round, yet we have a worryingly cavalier attitude towards insuring the property outside our homes .
These sentiments echo the thoughts of Cornhill Direct, which urged UK residents to ensure they have adequate home insurance in place to cope with any losses that may occur on November 5th.
