Home insurance customers have been warned that November 5th could be a night to remember for all the wrong reasons.
Financial services advice firm Defaqto has warned that the evening's activities, which include fireworks, bonfires and sparklers, could lead to problems affecting both the host's home insurance policies and those of their neighbours.
In addition, many revellers will be minimising the risk of a blaze by enjoying an event away from their own back yards, but Defaqto noted that this could raise the threat of burglary as opportunistic thieves look to cash in.
The company urged Britons to ensure they have adequate home insurance cover in place to avoid such problems becoming financial catastrophes.
If you are unfortunate enough to have a serious fire in your home, it could cause considerable damage to both the structure of your property and your belongings, potentially causing total loss, the financial services expert said.
Bonfire night celebrates the failure of Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament . To this day many youngsters make effigies of the terrorist and set them alight.
