The plethora of English rugby union fans heading out to enjoy the spectacle of the World Cup final have been urged to avoid a home insurance nightmare.
According to Confused.com, opportunistic thieves could take advantage of this lack of concentration on fans' part and break into their homes . This could result in a home insurance claim .
The company states that Britons planning to watch the match should ensure they do not make it easy for such crooks, by locking doors and windows and setting security alarms before they leave the house .
Debra Williams, the managing director of Confused.com, commented: By taking these simple steps you could reduce the risk of being burgled, avoid subsequent increases in insurance premiums and prevent a sorry end to the evening, whatever the result.
She added that criminals will be able to tell quite easily who is at home and who is not when the big moment of the final occurs.
England face an uphill struggle to win the tournament, against a South Africa side that has previously crushed them in the group stages, although the team has been resurgent of late.
