Despite the summer's flooding, the home insurance market remains competitive, according to one expert.
Graeme Trudgill, technical services manager at the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), said that companies are still advertising to be the "cheapest" home insurance provider .
Arguing that the market continues to be "ultra-competitive", Mr Trudgill urged people to shop around for their home insurance cover.
"The advice is to speak to advisors who will look around the market for you and make sure you get the best deal every time," he commented.
The Association of British Insurers recently estimated that the total cost of the damage caused by the floods was in excess of £3 billion.
Overall, there were approximately 100,000 domestic insurance claims and around 20,000 commercial claims.
Last month, the association's director general Stephen Haddrill called on the government to increase its spending on flood defences , having accused it of failing to offer "sufficient money" to improve the situation.
