A home insurance provider has revealed that it has experienced a rise in the number of homeowners' insurance claims registered following the recent gales.
On January 18th 2007, parts of the UK experienced gusts of wind reaching approximately 100 mph, according to a Met Office spokesman, leading to many properties sustaining damage that necessitated a home insurance claim.
According to AA Insurance, which provides a range of insurance products, it received more calls relating to home insurance queries in a day than it generally expects in a week.
Among the most frequently discussed issues were trees landing on properties, rain dripping through insecure roofs and flying fence panels striking windows.
Commenting, Gerry Barrett, head of AA Home Insurance, said: It's important not to delay getting relatively minor damage repaired or made safe as a further gale of less severity than we've seen could result in existing damage made much worse - and a much larger insurance claim.
Homeowners' insurance deals can be divided into home contents insurance and building insurance policies.
These components can typically be arranged through separate insurance companies.
