New research has revealed that some people are planning to hide Christmas presents in places that may not be covered by their home insurance .
According to Abbey Insurance, 30 per cent of people intend to hide their gifts in someone else's home, 29 per cent are storing them in either their shed or garage and 18 per cent will keep presents in their car . However, the firm has warned people that their gifts may not be covered by their insurance policies, noting that 60 per cent of people leaving presents in another house did not think about the insurance implications.
Prasad Shastri, head of insurance marketing at Abbey, said: You may want to check with the person storing your gift that they are appropriately covered so that you don’t end up losing out this Christmas .
Earlier research conducted by the firm found that although November is the most popular time of year to buy Christmas presents, one in ten people choose to begin their Christmas shopping during the first half of the year.
