Many UK teenagers are looking to purchase digital goods, according to research from a home insurance provider.
Electronic items such as mobile phones, iPods and DVD players, many of which will be covered by home insurance, are more popular among younger consumers, the Legal & General study shows.
Furthermore, digital items feature heavily in the top ten most-bought household goods, with equipment such as flat-screen TVs and computers featuring alongside those already mentioned.
The total estimated value of items for home insurance is also higher among younger consumers, averaging at £13,746 for 18-20-year-olds, which drops to £11,156 for those between the ages of 20 and 29.
Garry Skelton, marketing director at Legal & General General Insurance commented: "Although more than seven in ten people (71 per cent) have purchased items for the home in the last three months, only one in four (25 per cent) have reviewed their home contents insurance cover during that same period."
Several providers, including Sainsbury's Bank, have recently warned students to ensure that their goods are covered by a home insurance policy when they head to university.
