Unusually high tides on the east coast could lead to flooding, a home insurance provider has warned.
Between Wednesday September 6th and 13th, high tides are expected in the region, which could lead to flooding when combined with stormy weather and northerly winds, More Than has claimed.
Mike Holliday-Williams, director of More Than Insurance, said: "While the weather this week is currently looking stable, the unusually high tides on the east coast could lead to flood situations in some areas if stormy weather occurs."
In the event of a flood, More Than will take steps to make a home insurance policy as easy as possible for those affected, Mr Holiday-Williams asserted.
"Our claims staff are trained to deal with disasters and they are able to relieve some of the stress and strain these situations can bring," he added.
Research carried out earlier this year by the Environment Agency claimed that thousands of homes across the UK could be at risk of flooding.
Flooding incidents, which could cause a costly home insurance claim, are rising due to climate change, the report claimed.
