NatWest is set to offer a bonus with its home insurance policies.
All home insurance policies bought before October 31st 2006 will come with 12 months free home emergency cover.
The home emergency cover provides NatWest's home insurance customers with 24-hour access to fully qualified and authorised contractors, who will carry out any necessary repairs.
Contractors will be available, up to £500 for callouts, labour and materials, to conduct works if the home has become unsafe or insecure, or has been left without water or lighting facilities.
Bob Trinder, head of NatWest Insurance Services, said: Home emergency cover means you don’t have to search Yellow Pages for a plumber or electrician, worry about rogue traders or face an unexpected bill.
You just call the 24-hour helpline and the arrangements are made for you with selected contractors who are paid directly.
NatWest's home insurance policy covers accidental damage to electronic equipment such as TVs, DVD players and other home entertainment, and also features cover for home office equipment up to £5,000.
