High tides between the October 7th and 10th could lead to flooding in some areas of the UK coupled with stormy weather, a home insurance provider is warning.
UK homeowners should take steps to protect their belongings and property from damage, potentially minimising the amount lost, claims Direct Line.
However, if damage does occur to a house or items inside, the affected individual should contact their home insurance provider as soon as possible, the company states.
The home insurance specialist has also provided a number of tips to Britons who may be affected by flooding.
These include storing important documents, contact details and home insurance policy documents in a safe, watertight bag in a dry and accessible location.
In addition, those affected should park their car on higher ground if possible and be prepared to move other valuable items such as ornaments and furniture to a dryer place at short notice.
Earlier this year, research conducted by the Environment Agency revealed that thousands of homes across the UK could be at risk of flooding.
