UK homeowners are at risk of having inadequate home insurance to deal with predicted severe weather patterns, an expert has warned.
Not all home insurance policies cover the holder in the event of a flood, which could lead to some homeowners being severely out of pocket should disaster strike, claimed insurancewide.com.
By contacting their home insurance provider, concerned UK residents can find out whether they live in a flood zone or not, advised James Harrison, the company's chief executive.
Mr Harrison also asserted that living in flood zone may leave many with limited home insurance options, so staying with their current provider may be the best option if they are already covered for the possibility.
Check your cover limits - you need a policy whose cover is relevant to the value of your possessions so make sure the insurer's terms are right for you, he remarked.
If you are approaching renewal time, consider these points carefully.
Last week, the Met Office warned that high tides and strong winds could results in flooding in the near future.
